Dr Patricia Anafi

Patricia Anafi is a Certified Health Education Specialist and Assistant Professor of Community Health at the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Potsdam. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Public Health from University of Massachusetts in Amherst, a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and a Bachelors of Arts degree from University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. She was a Policy Communication Fellow with the Population Reference Bureau from 2011 to 2012, and African Scholars Program Fellow with the University of Massachusetts Five Colleges in 2006. In the fall of 2012, she taught as adjunct faculty at Hampshire College in Massachusetts and she was a full-time faculty member at UCC from 2005 to 2006. Prior to her position at UCC, she worked with the Ghana Health Service as a Research officer for 3 years on several malaria control studies. Her prior research concentrated on examining innovative strategies for HIV/AIDS prevention education and HIV/AIDS stigma reduction in rural Ghana. In 2012, she completed a study that examined maternal health seeking behavior among the urban poor in Ghana. Her current research focuses on improving pre-conception health behavior among young people.
