The lack of effective institutions is at the center of the challenges that many countries in the developing world encounter in their political, economic, security, and developmental space. The Center engages in institutional theory and analysis critical for dealing with contemporary institutional challenges.

CESDOSED confronts the issue of institutions and discusses institutional designs that bridge traditional institutions with modern ones. Every state is unique and this reality needs to be taken into consideration in designing sustainable institutions.
